What Is Hosteling, Anyway?

Hi folks. Kristi here . . .

I just read an article over at BootsnAll Travel about the meaning of "hosteling." Have you stayed in a hostel . . . or have you hosteled? Good question.

Consider this:

"For starters, there's something we need to make clear: "Staying in a hostel", and "to hostel" (as a verb, an action) or "hosteling" aren't the same thing. You can stay anywhere. You can stay in a hotel, in a train station, the bog, it doesn't matter. Staying somewhere means nothing more than having for the night a place to leave your things, bathe, sleep, and maybe catch a meal. That's it."

And I really like their definition of hosteling. It might seem more related to "youth hosteling" at first glance, but if you really think about it, I'll wager you'll see how true it is for us over-50's, -60's and -70's, too. Okay, why not the over-80's as well?

Check it out here . . .

After you've read the article, let me know what you think. ;-)
